Angen cartref i furlun Jonah Jones ‘Y Bont’ dan fygythiad

Fe wnaethom gyhoeddi’r stori hon cyn i’n gwefan ddod yn ddwyieithog.

The future of the wall sculpture Avo Penn Bid Pont (more familiarly known as Y Bont), currently in the students’ refectory at Coleg Harlech, continues to be a concern due to the approaching demolition of the building. While there have been expressions of interest in relocating the sculpture to another public building in Wales, they have remained tentative so far, and the deadline is running down.

Coleg Harlech, which owns the work, wishes for the sculpture to remain in Wales and be securely displayed in the interior of a public building. Given the scale of Y Bont, this will present a challenge. What might be called for is a large new building or refurbishment with a substantial public open area in which the sculpture would provide a visual focus and centrepiece.

The availability of the sculpture provides a tempting opportunity for the right scheme, and if such a one exists, Scene & Word would be happy to act as marriage broker! It seems critical that this major work should not be lost to Wales.
