A member of the Board of Scene & Word, Peter Jones, recently visited the Catholic Church of St Joseph the Worker in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire to inspect a figure of the saint carved by Jonah which stands in a niche on the west front of the church. Made of Portland stone, it is around 3 ft 4 in (just over 1 metre) high and is in good condition apart from some staining caused by atmospheric conditions. The church was opened in 1961; its architect was E. Bower Norris, with whom Jonah collaborated on several projects during the 1960s.
