During his time at Gregynog, Jonah took to sketching and painting interiors among other subjects. When he exhibited 50 of his recent watercolours near the end of this spell, he considered the most successful to be the interiors, “a new departure for me,” as he remarked. He also used watercolour in sketches for sculptural ideas in development.
