Photograph of Jonah Jones rood cross relocated to Hurst Green from the former Loyola Hall

The large rood cross carved by Jonah Jones in the mid-1960s was relocated in 2012 from the former Jesuit retreat centre at Loyola Hall, Rainhill, on Merseyside, to a new chapel of St Joseph’s School in Hurst Green, Lancashire. An article published at the time on stpetersstonyhurst.org.uk has recently come to light, with this photograph. It shows the reinstalled rood cross with, on either side, two new stained glass windows by Sarah Galloway, commissioned for the chapel.
