Plan to move ‘Y Bont’ sculpture to redeveloped Harlech hotel

An article (no longer available online) published in the Cambrian News on 26 April 2012 announced a proposed plan to move Jonah Jones’s sculpture Y Bont from the condemned students’ block at Coleg Harlech to a redeveloped St David’s Hotel on a site next to the college campus.

On 30 April 2012 BBC North West Wales News also published an article online about the plan.

Update: the proposal, negotiated by Coleg Harlech and Scene & Word with the hotel’s owners, Gibraltar-based Aitchison Associates, never got off the ground. The St David’s Hotel remained in a derelict condition until 2019, when, following a lengthy planning enforcement case, the Snowdonia National Park Authority initiated direct action to begin demolition of the building.
