Episode 3 in the ‘Hidden Histories’ series for BBC Cymru Wales, produced by Element Productions in association with the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales (RCAHMW), was shown on 17 November on BBC Two Wales. It included a feature on the wall sculpture Avo Penn Bid Pont (usually known as Y Bont) created by Jonah Jones in 1969–70 for the students’ refectory at Coleg Harlech. The future of the work is threatened by the proposed demolition of the students’ block in 2012.
Click here to view the ten-minute feature, filmed in situ in the now-empty students block, as Jonah’s daughter Naomi Trodden and presenter Peter Wakelin explore the conception and design of Y Bont.
