“Urdd Gobaith Cymru (the Welsh League of Youth) in 1972 marked its 50th anniversary by commissioning Jonah to do a new bronze figure of Sir O.M. Edwards and his son Sir Ifan ab Owen Edwards, teacher and founder of the Urdd, for the monument at Llanuwchllyn [birthplace of Sir O.M. Edwards]. These figures were full life-size[…] Irritatingly this public figure, like so many by Jonah, suffered from vandalism soon after its installation. Sir Ifan’s spectacles, reproduced meticulously by Jonah, were levered off the figure[…] [which] has since stood without glasses, a condition in which Sir Ifan was never seen.” [pp126–127, Jonah Jones: An Artist’s Life in Wales by Peter Jones, Seren Books, 2011]
